Our Story

The journey of a dream that became a home for all

The story of Vila Melko begins in 1991, when Olsi Melko, after many years of working in Crete, Greece, returned to his birthplace to build what every Albanian longs for a home in Boboshticë, Korçë following his dream to live close to nature and tradition. With the growth of tourism and the need for quality services, on August 15, 2001, with great courage and passion, Vila Melko was born a simple initiative with a clear goal: to bring the experience of authenticity and tradition to the table of both locals and visitors discovering Boboshticë at the time a mission that remains unchanged even today, after so many years. The road hasn’t been easy challenges, obstacles, sacrifices, and a great deal of hard work. But with perseverance and love for tradition, now "Chef Olsi" and his wife Alketa Melko took it all on, turning Vila Melko into one of the first swallows of rural tourism in the city of Korçë.

A Complete Experience of Tradition and Flavor

What We Offer at Vila Melko:
Restaurant: Capacity for 140 guests indoors and 150 guests on the green outdoor veranda. A traditional atmosphere with wooden furnishings and 4 warm fireplaces for unforgettable nights. Farm: A lively environment with around 1,000 animals small livestock, cows, horses, chickens, and roostersproviding fresh and natural products every day. Garden: Seasonal fresh vegetables and fruits, including Korça’s "Sarrëke" tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, wild plums, cherries, apples, and many more. Mini Dairy: Where we handcraft white cheese, yellow cheese (kaçkavall), butter, buttermilk, and yogurt sauce all 100% natural and free from preservatives. Vila Melko Rooms: Our newest accommodation spaces offer a peaceful traditional atmosphere with modern comforts, featuring suites with bathtubs, wood-burning fireplaces, and spacious interiors for unforgettable countryside nights.

Our artisan mini dairy, a small but lively corner!

In our mini dairy, we process fresh milk from our farm every day with dedication and love for tradition. Here, everything is handmade the old Albanian way, without artificial additives or preservatives. Our products include soft and salty white cheese, kaçkavall, pure butter that melts in your mouth, buttermilk, and yogurt sauce—all carefully prepared to preserve the authentic taste and natural quality. The mini dairy is not only the place where the beloved flavors of childhood are born, but also a testament to our connection with the land, livestock, and agricultural heritage of the area.

Our corner of artisanally prepared products is a true treasure of traditional flavors. Here you’ll find:

Pickles made following grandmother’s recipes, with tomatoes, peppers stuffed with cheese or sauce all prepared with care to maintain freshness and authentic aroma.

Compotes with seasonal fruits cherries, plums, peaches, or quinces bring natural, nostalgic sweetness to every glass.

Thick, warm, and fragrant artisanal jams are perfect for delicious breakfasts or to accompany fresh bread and cheese.

The pure, golden honey from our bees comes from the flowers surrounding the village, bringing a unique and healthy flavor to your table.
